Aten (or Aton) was the disk of the sun in ancient Egyptian mythology, and originally an aspect of Ra. He became the deity of the monotheistic — in fact, monistic — religion of Amenhotep IV, who took the name Akhenaten. The worship of Aten seems to have ceased shortly after Akhenaten's death. Sirius-ly New Age The Bible is filled with remarkable parallels between ancient and modern times. The Israelites had been delivered by God out of Egypt through Moses, whom God had appointed for the task of leading this rebellious group. But they kept turning to the gods of the Egyptians. At Acts 7:35-43 we read: "This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? The same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years. This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear. This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina[i], and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness? Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon." The five-pointed Sirius Star is a religious symbol, and Sirius was the astronomical foundation of the entire religious system of ancient Egypt. (Sirius/Egypt) It is the star of Isis, the prostitute "Queen of Heaven" manifesting herself today through the Roman Church as the Virgin Mary. Jeremiah 44:15-25 says: "Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt: Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows." The Bible says that the Antichrist will rise up under the guise of world peace and demand everyone to worship Satan, and the entire world will worship him. (Revelation 13:4) He will deceive the whole world by the use of sorcery: "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand." --Daniel 8:25 He gets his power from Satan: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. " -Revelation 12:9 Jesus is the genuine Prince of Peace: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." -Isaiah 9:6 This is the war the Lamb wins: "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." -Revelation 19:15 Where do we see the five-pointed star of Sirius? Most notably the Pentagon, the American military headquarters, is a pentagram. We are familiar with World War II and the US Air Force logo, a pentagram within a circle. The Japanese were also sun-worshippers and their flag had the rising sun. A red five-pointed star is also seen on Russian and Chinese military vehicles and aircraft. There is also a Red Sirius Star in Egyptology. The star is also seen on many national flags such as the US, the EU, China, North Korea, Iraq and many others. It is a prominent Masonic symbol, and Masonry is steeped in Egyptology. The layout of Washington DC has this symbol incorporated into the street pattern. The emblem of the five pointed Sirius Star is being embedded as an insignia on the NAFTA Superhighway in Texas. Of course the Texans just think it's the Lone Star, but I bet G. Dubya knows what it means! The Sirius Radio symbol is a dog with a five-pointed star on its eye, representing the Dog Star Sirius. The Egyptian Sirius Star is a major symbol in the logo of Islam, a five-pointed Star of Sirius just above the middle of the crescent moon. This is on the Mosques of Islam all over the world. The Koran calls Sirius "An-najm-the Star". Yusafali, Pikthal and Shakir all agree that their Lord is Sirius the "Mighty Star". If you look around at many business logos the star is everywhere! They're serious about Sirius Evidently the "goyim" have stumbled onto something "esoteric" when they discovered that the stars in the heavens are connected via plasma, forming an electrical circuit by which the sun transforms energy from other sources and radiates that energy to the earth. Modern astronomy has determined that it is only 8 1/2 light-years distant, and traveling directly towards Earth at many thousands of miles per hour. The Ancient Egyptians believed that Sirius had a tremendous effect upon life on our planet. The system of Sirius contains two known stars, the first binary star system discovered. The larger and brighter of the two, Sirius A, is three times the mass of our sun, and over ten times as bright. Shining with a brilliant blue- white radiance, Sirius A easily overshadows her darker companion star. Sirius B is a "white dwarf" star, invisible to the naked eye and packing the equivalent mass of our sun into an incredibly dense globe only 4 times the diameter of our Earth. The Sirius system is directly "upstream" of our solar system within the galactic arm of our Milky Way Galaxy. Because of this, we now know that the polarized energies of Sirius do indeed wash over us. Modern science is yet to discover if this vast current of highly charged particles affects solar activity or life on Earth . By coming directly towards us, Sirius creates an axis of rotation with Earth relative to the stellar background. Because of this, of all the stars in the sky, only the annual heliacal rising of Sirius exactly matches the length of our solar year, 365.25 days. The Ancient Egyptians were somehow aware of this unique relationship between our system and Sirius and marked the heliacal rising of Sirius as the first day of their calendar year. Even today, unbeknownst to most of the people of the world, our News Years Eve celebration is a continuation of a most ancient ritual honoring the return of Sirius to the midheaven position at midnight. Occurring down through the ages around January 1st, this midnight alignment marks the moment when the energies of Sirius, directly overhead, most closely touch our lives in her most singular purity. For countless thousands of years and all around the world, without knowing the hidden reason, we have marked this midnight moment by jumping for joy as the rush of this vital connection surges through us. Sirius B traces an elliptical orbit around Sirius A, and their common center of gravity, directly face onto the Earth like the dial of a clock. Taking 50 years to complete their orbit, the period of closest connection, called the periastron, is a time when the radiated energies of these two great stars is especially intense. Sirius B spins on it's axis at an incredible 23 times a minute ( 23 rpm!!), generating an enormous magnetic field. As it approaches periastron, it begins to pull huge amounts of gas and material away from its less dense companion. The gravitational attraction of these stars for each other and the energies they release at this time of closest communion is difficult, if not impossible for the human mind to comprehend. Vast amounts of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, gamma rays and beyond, are thrown into space. The extra gas and material Sirius A provides for her companion re-ignite fusion reactions within Sirius B, and once again, her eternal lover, now blazing brightly, is reborn. As Sirius B moves past periastron, the light generated by their shared energies begins to diminish until eventually, it resumes its role as her "Dark Companion". As Robert Temple has shown in his book "The Sirius Mystery", the Ancient Egyptians were aware of Sirius B and the orbital dynamics of the Sirian system in predynastic times, before 3200 BC. As Sirius is 8.7 light years distant, it is not the closest star system - the Alpha Centauri system holds this distinction. Sirius is called the Dog Star because of its prominence in the constellation of Canis Majoris (Big Dog). In 1862, Sirius was discovered to be a binary star system with a (twin) companion star, Sirius B, 10,000 times dimmer than the bright primary, Sirius A. Sirius B was the first white dwarf star discovered, a type of star first understood by Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar in 1930. While studying Sirius in 1718, Edmond Halley discovered that stars move with respect to each other. There is conflicting evidence that Sirius appeared more red only 2000 years ago. _______________________________________________________________________ A Binary Star System The Sirius binary star system consists of a main sequence primary star of spectral class A0 (Sirius A) and a white dwarf companion (Sirius B) in orbit around their common center of mass with a period of about 50 years. The system is approximately 8.6 light years from Earth and lies in the constellation Canis Major (the Big Dog). The primary star is the brightest star in our sky other than the Sun. The motion of the Sirius system about its center of mass causes the proper motion of the two stars across the celestial sphere to wobble. Such motion can be used to detect the presence of an unseen companion.....The corresponding motion is what we would see for Sirius A if it did not move on the celestial sphere. This motion, coupled with its proper motion, gives the wobbling path noted above. A binary system inferred from such wobbling motion of the primary is called an astrometric binary. Named in early times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the dog star) and the sun. In the latitude of the Mediterranean region this period coincided with hot days that were plagued with disease and discomfort. The time of conjunction varies with difference in latitude, and because of the precession of the equinoxes it changes gradually over long periods in all latitudes. The dog days are named for the Dog Star -- the brightest star in the sky -- Sirius in the constellation Canis Major, the Greater Dog. Sirius is the brightest star visible from either of Earth's hemispheres. It's prominent in the evening during the northern hemisphere winter. But its appearance in the summer has also been noticed for many thousands of years. Around this time of year, after being behind the sun for awhile, the Dog Star reappears before dawn. Early Egyptians noticed that Sirius always rose before the sun just before the annual flood of the River Nile. This yearly flood was important to Egyptian agriculture -- so the return of Sirius was a welcome event. Meanwhile, early Greeks and Romans had a different impression of the Dog Star. At this time of year, Sirius travels across the sky with the sun during the daylight hours. The ancients believed that the combination of the sun and Sirius actually caused the hot weather. The dire influence of the Dog Star was said to cause fever in men -- and madness in dogs. They live in the Homburi Mountains near Timbuktu. At the center of their religious teachings is the knowledge of a Sirius B, a white dwarf, although small and faint is extremely dense and heavy enough to exert an influence on Sirius A. The Dogon name for Sirius B is Po Tolo. Tolo means Star. Po means smallest seed. They go on to say that it has an is elliptical orbit, with Sirius A at one foci of the ellipse (as it is), that the orbital period is 50 years (the actual figure is 50.04 +/- 0.09 years), and that the star rotates on its own axis (it does). They have described perfectly the DNA type eliptical orbit that the 2 make around each other. That has been confirmed by modern day scientists. The Dogon also describe a third star in the Sirius system, called "Emme Ya" ("Sorghum Female"). In orbit around this star, they say, is a single satellite. To date, Emme Ya has not been identified by astronomers. In addition to their knowledge of Sirius B, the Dogon mythology includes Saturn's rings, and Jupiter's four major moons. They have four calendars, for the Sun Moon, Sirius, and Venus, and have long known that planets orbit the sun. The strange part is that Western astronomers didn't find the star until the middle of the nineteenth century, and most are certain that no previous explorers to the region could have informed them of it. It wasn't even photographed until 1970. This star has formed the basis of the most sacred DOGON beliefs since antiquity. They claim that a long time ago a space ship with 3 triangular legs landed. The DOGON call the creatures the NOMMOS, who have to live in water. The beings were human looking. They put out a reservoire of water onto the earth. They dove out into the water. They were aquatic....more to the point amphibious. They could walk and talk and live on the earth but they could also live in an aquatic environment. They believe the Nommo will return to the earth one day. This tribe has some amazing facts they say they gathered from these visiting extra-terrestrials. The know, that Sirius A, the brightest sky in our sky is next to a small white dwarf called Sirius B. Sirius B was not discovered by our scientists until 1978. The Dogon tribe knew about it 1,000 years ago or longer. There are many serious references throughout all of the drawings of the cuneiforms of the ancient civilizations to human looking beings who have feet but who are portrayed as having a large fish skin running down their bodies. The DOGONs may presently be the last people on Earth to worship extra-terrestrial amphibians who landed in the Persian Gulf at the dawn of civilization, and whose presence can be detected in drawings and legends of the gods of ancient Babylonia, Egypt and Greece. This ancient people knew that once every year the Parent Sun is in line with the Dog Star. Therefore, the Great Pyramid was so constructed that, at this sacred moment, the light of the Dog Star fell upon the square "Stone of God" at the upper end of the Great Gallery, descending upon the head of the high priest, who received the Super Solar Force and sought through his own perfected Solar Body to transmit to other Initiates this added stimulation for the evolution of their Godhood. This then was the purpose of the "`Stone of God,' whereon in the Ritual, Osiris sits to bestow upon him (the illuminate) the Atf crown or celestial light." "North and South of that crown is love," proclaims an Egyptian hymn. "And thus throughout the teaching of Egypt the visible light was but the shadow of the invisible Light; and in the wisdom of the ancient country the measures of Truth were the years of the Most High (Marshall Adams, The Book of the Master," page 141-2)." Modern science partially confirms these facts as to the significance of the Great Pyramid, but lacks the key to them. Dr. Percival Lowell, in a recent essay entitled "Precession and the Pyramids," says-- "The Great Pyramid was in fact a great observatory, the most superb one every erected," and "The Great Gallery's floor exactly included every possible position of the Sun's shadow at noon from the year's beginning to its end. We thus reach the remarkable result that the gallery was a gigantic gnomon or sundial telling, not like ordinary sundials the hour of the day, but on a more impressive scale, the seasons of the year." After the publication of my book, various people wrote to me and asked me whether I knew the writings of Alice Bailey, who produced many volumes of mystical works supposedly inspired by "Higher Beings", communicated to her in trance. Much of what she wrote concerned a kind of cosmic Freemasonry. I had no familiarity with this material but tried to look into it. My friend, the late Sir John Sinclair, Bart., had met Alice Bailey as a child and was involved in her literay estate through something called the Lucis Trust. He attempted to search for Sirius references for me. I discovered that Miss Bailey had maintained that "the Great White Lodge" of Freemasonry was based at the Sirius System, and that it is always beaming helpful rays to the poor people of Earth who wallow in appalling ignorance, violence, and oppression. We earthlings are looked upon as a dangerous lot, and the Sirians have tried hard to civilize us without much success. Freemasonry is meant to be one of their civilizing forces here. (Of course the corrupt Masonic lodges such as P-2 would form no part of this.) Amongst material handed to me by John before he died, not all of it by Alice Bailey, and much of it odd photocopied pages without proper referencing information, I find comments such as these: "Each star in the heavens is a solar system with a light-producing sun and revolving planets. Our solar system in which our Earth exists is one of them. There are millions of stars but, among them all, only the star Sirius has a direct link with the Earth and with humanity. Much was known to the Ancients about Sirius, now largely lost but recoverable... Masonic tradition has it that the first three degrees of our Blue lodge [I haven't the faintest idea what the Blue Lodge is] are equivalent to the first degree of Freemasonry on the star Sirius. Pondering upon the implications of this statement is fascinating because it lifts the whole concept of Masonry as a spiritual quest on to a higher plane than ever known before. It gives meaning and depth to the question: Why Masonry? It will be no detriment to Masonry if we use the "as if" technique of philosophy which does not hesitate to deal with that which is yet unproven. More Masons are asking more fundamental questions about Masonry these days... Among such questions is: Where did Masonry originate? Because the star Sirius is older than the Earth Masonry could have existed there long before our Earth Masonry began. By implication there is human life on Sirius... Our solar system receives energy from three main sources. There are three great waves of energy which sweep cyclically through our solar system, on of which comes from Sirius. There are seven paths of progress open to man when he has learned all that human evolution on Earth can teach him. One is the path to Sirius. He arrives there in consciousness as a perfected human being. It follows that there is therefore a type of life on Sirius which includes the essential of human life on Earth. This includes Masonry and he finds that great spiritual fraternity already there. Life on Sirius is therefore the destiny of the majority of humanity who then, if they are Masons, continue as Masons... Great as Masonry has been in the past, it has before it still more glorious and useful future as it moves from Speculative to Spiritual Masonry. That inevitable change is already dimly seen. It will be more important than the change from Operative to Speculative Masonry. It is towards this end that Masonic Research should direct its efforts." I don't know whether Alice Bailey herself actually wrote that. But she certainly wrote the following: "One great fact to be borne in mind is that the initiations of the planet or of the solar system are but the preparatory initiations of admission into the greater Lodge on Sirius. ...The first four initiations of the solar system prior to the first cosmic initiation. The fifth initiation corresponds to the first cosmic initiation. that of "entered apprentice" of the Lodge Sirius. The sixth initiation is analogous to the second degree in Masonry, whilst the seventh initiation makes the Adept a Master Mason of the Brotherhood of Sirius. A Master, therefore, is one who had taken the seventh planetary initiation, the fifth solar initiation, and the first Sirian or cosmic initiation." Alice Bailey also said quite explicitly: "...in the secret of the sun Sirius are hidden the facts of our cosmic evolution, and incidentally, therefore, of our solar system." This might almost serve as a motto for my own book! And yet these insights reached Miss Bailey by means of some strange "automatic writing" which she apparently produced, like someone in trance. And I only found out about it after I worked my own way along what might be called by the Hindus "the path of knowledge"; Miss Bailey seems to have taken some kind of short-cut. ____________________________________________________________________________ The Sacred Legacy of Egypt by Kerry Wisner Egyptian religion functions on many different levels, with its rites seeking to attune the individual to the celestial cycles. As we have seen, the daily rite (described at the beginning of this article), with its emphasis on the cyclic rebirth of the sun, forms a connection between the participants and the immense spiritual power that surges forth each dawn. This is a ceremony of renewal, light and awareness. In addition to this there are a variety of rituals devoted to the rhythms of the moon and stars. One of the most dramatic of these may be found in the rites associated with the rising of the star Sirius when it first becomes visible just before sunrise. This is an annual event of extreme importance. For Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, was seen as the spiritual essence of a number of goddesses all of whom were central to Egyptian theological thought. These included Hathor, Isis, Sopdet and more (Hart 1986.205–207, Parker 1950.33). The helical rising of Sirius marked the beginning of the new year for each of the calendars in the Egyptian’s multiple system (Parker 1978.707). Incorporated into this are both the civil and lunar calendars; the later of which marks the timing of the majority of the religious ceremonies and festivals (Parker 1978.708). The new year’s festival was one of the most powerful ceremonies of Ancient Egypt. On this day the revitalizing light of the star Sirius and the Sun where united with the earthly image of the Neter of each temple (Meeks 1996.197). For on this one day the statues were taken from their shrines and placed where they could bathe in the light of these sacred manifestations of the feminine and masculine forces of life: Sirius, the stellar goddess, and the Sun, the living image of the god. The temples of Horus at Edfu and Hathor at Dendera document this ceremony. Just before sunrise the priesthood began a slow procession through the temple. They carried offering, ceremonial implements and shrines holding gold statues of the Neteru. Slowly climbing the eastern staircase the procession echoed the steady ascent of Sirius and the Sun. Once on the roof the shrines were opened to greet the morning light (Meeks 1996.196–197, West 1985. 402). Inscriptions from Dendera take up the narrative. Hathor is ". . . the beautiful one who appears in heaven, the truth which regulates the world at the head of the sun barge, the Queen and Mistress of awe, the ruler (of gods and) goddesses, Isis the great, the Mother of the Gods." Here Hathor’s identity extends to Isis and Sopdet (Krupp 1983.258). Additional inscriptions continue: "Radiantly, above Her father’s forehead, the Golden One rises, and Her mysterious form occupies the bow of His boat. Her rays unite with the luminous God on that beautiful day of the birth of the sun disk on the morning of the new year’s feast" (Krupp 1991.218). The ‘Golden One’ referred to is none other than Hwt–Hrw, Hathor, the Great Mother of the Egyptian pantheon in her form of the star Sirius. Here the union of Goddess and God are played out on a cosmic scale. Rejuvenated by the combined light of Sun and star the statues were returned to their shrines and the procession began its journey down into the temple via the opposite staircase representing the westerly journey of these celestial bodies (Meeks 1996.197).
